I Got Trust Issues
Pastor Darius McClure - FORCED Series
Psalms 23:1-6
Relationships move at the speed of trust.
Whenever trust is low, advancement is slow.
Whatever we trust determines the direction of our life.
Whatever we fear the most, we trust the least.
Trust issues are the fruit, fear is the root.
You will live your life either in trust or in trauma.
Whenever trust is absent, stubbornness is present.
Stubbornness is to worship your own opinion.
Your opinion becomes an idol.
The Bible calls it “stiff-necked.”
To be stubborn is to be unteachable.
An unteachable person is an unmovable person.
The fruit is stubbornness, the root is pride.
Pride is fighting to be right instead of being well.
On Palm Sunday, Jesus rode in on a donkey-
In the Bible, a donkey is a representation of our flesh- a wild, stubborn nature that refuses to be tamed.
When Jesus sits on the donkey, He tames the untamable.
God doesn’t specialize in ‘better,’ He specializes in new.
Wherever there’s a need, God has a name.
There’s no way I should be where I am based off of who I am.
Jehovah Rohi is a:
1.Present God- “The Lord is”
2.Personal God- “my shepherd”
3.Providing God- “I shall not want”
When you allow Him to lead you in every area, lack is not an option.
vs.2- “He makes me lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside the still waters.”
Sometimes we’re too busy to get better. Sometimes He has to make us lie down.
In order for Him to bless us, He has to first stop us.
Quiet is external, still is internal.
To be still is to rest. He leads us to still waters so that we can see ourselves the way He sees us. Still waters = able to see a reflection.
Vs.3- He restores my soul.
In order to deal with the trust issues that you have:
You must trust God’s pace.
Sometimes He has to use experience to draw us back to Him. The breakup, the betrayal, the hurt-He didn’t cause it, but He will use it.
Trust God’s path. “He leads me in paths of righteousness for His name’s sake”-vs.3 ; vs.6- He will make your paths straight. A straight path is a shorter path. When you trust God with your path you don’t have to make unnecessary turns.
God’s response to our prayer is divine direction.
Admitting you’re wrong is just admitting you took the wrong path.
Trust God’s protection.
Vs.4- Even though you’re going through it, you won’t be stopped by it. “I will fear no evil ; for You are with me.”
Vs.5-“You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies ; You anoint my head with old ; my cup runs over.”
God will never expect you to take old oil into new seasons. When He anoints us it’s indication that He’s taking you into new places.
