Luke 11:9-13
The God you see is the God you get.
How you ‘see’ God, determines who we allow Him to be to us.
The enemy will use anything he can to weaponize how we view God, even God’s people- we have to be mindful of this.
“I refuse to let them ruin my perspective of Him. They may not be all that they said they would be, but He is everything He said He would be.”
When the enemy can’t get us to see God in the wrong way, he tries to get us to see Him in a ‘reduced’ way.
There are times when we ask God for a blessing and He gives us a blueprint- our willingness to work the blueprint determines whether or not we step into the blessing.
Exposure awakens in you an appetite for things you didn’t know existed.
Paul said “God wants to do things that our eyes haven’t seen, ears haven’t heard, and our hearts haven’t conceived.”
I didn’t know it could be this good! God show me how good it can get.
The practice of prayer doesn’t work if you don’t change the perspective of the Person you’re praying to.
Who you talk to impacts how you talk to them-
He is a consistent God.
“How much more will your Father in Heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him?” -vs.13
When He gives us the Holy Spirit, we inherit His features. His features are fruit.
The evidence of the Spirit governing your life is the fruit your character carries as a result of His influence.
Fruit cannot be fabricated, but some gifts can.
Evidence of The Spirit:
LOVE- The Holy Spirit empowers us to always seek the highest good for others no matter what they do to us. Love frees us from the prison of the desire for revenge. The desire for revenge for the Christian is torture.
JOY- Internal revelation that my welfare and wellbeing rests with God. Biblical joy is STRENGTH!
PEACE- An internal sense of serenity that rests in the revelation that the One who is for me, is greater than those against me.
Prayer- “God, make me a person of love. Make me a person of joy. Make me a person of peace.”
2nd way settles for having these things, 3rd Way says I want to BE these things.
